I’m happy about Lent this year. Maybe it feels like a good opportunity for self-denial when in our daily lives we rarely deny our wills anything. During Lent, we can ensure that we step down from the thrones in our own little kingdoms, and let the Lord take His Reign. One of the hardest penances can be to let our ego be sacrificed – perhaps when we are blamed for something not our fault, we could take it in silence. Perhaps if someone takes credit for something we contributed to, we could let them take the praise. I am terrible at denying myself anything sweet… but even more terrible at allowing my ego to be sacrificed. Let Him increase; let me decrease! It is the only way to become a saint.
I’m excited on Saturday to be leading a day for fifty catechists, introducing Transformed in Christ. There are some other fabulous people supporting the day too, and I have a feeling it’s going to be great… Watch this space for photos next week!
